Well brother having got one i might aswell use them to wipe my ass with as they are useless.
1st off i thought holy crap these movies look awesome and they do,but then came the erors and unplayable disc and "reading" constant message crap.
planet earth,disc 1 and 5 work but not the others,tranformers worked once now it doesnt,riddick wont play.
Tried reseting the dvd player and updating again,works for 1st movie after that than back to normal.
Second drive we get same,it either decides not to play a movie or play it once,MS dont make the drives so they offer no support.
Think a ps3 is worth getting for watching HD movies methinks.

mine was ok, sounds like you had a shitty drive to me, however hd-dvd is dying on it's arse now, as there is only one movie house now supporting it, the PS3 is bloody good value when you compare it like for like with the 360 and the hd-dvd drive seperately.
got 30 odd blu rays including imports and they all play flawlessly.
only trouble with the ps3 is the dire lack of decent games for it at the moment, and also that you can get the same game on the 360 preowned for less than half of the preowned ps3 price for the same game.
ps3 is used 80% for high def movies at moment for me, as the games are so cheap on 360 at moment.
