PS3 Better than Xbox 360/PC?As you all know, PC's are normally better than consoles (spec wise), but after researching for a demonstration i have to do for college, i find that its better than any PC available at the moment.
Also, its better than any other console at the moment as well. I know its not out, but there are PS3's in existence for manufacturers to make games on.
I read somewhere a comparison between the xbox 360 and the PS3, and it was a complete lie as they didnt have the right PS3 specs at the time.
I wont go into much detail at the moment, but lets hear each other's thoughts on this matter for now...
P.S. please give a reason for your answer

Its only £425 for something worth £2000.
Still expensive but a bargain for what youre getting and its worth it too. If the blue-ray player can use any blue ray disc, then we could be using discs with 200gb on!
As for the xbox live feature, its only worth using if you can get good connetions on it.
I could drone on for weeks on how good the specs are for the ps3, but i dont have time right now.

I don't know which to get a new P.C. or a PS3? Even if the PS3 is cheap at about £400. You can get a reat comp for the sameprice and a comp does more like word documents and photo software etc etc. you can also get patchs and games can hold more memory. Why is the PS3 so good please cn some one say why?LOL

PC all the way
PC can be upgraded, can be played with mouse and keyboard and allowes you to directly switch games / msn / internet

Yep! I've done some research and found that they only called it Xbox 360 because if it was PS3 and Xbox 2 less people will buy the xbox (not as good). They couldn't call it Xbox3 so it was the Xbox 360.

P.C's all the way HOWEVER if your looking at getting a blueray DVD player then the PS3's are actually a damn sight cheaper then a standalone player and thats there big selling point IMHO. Of course there arent that many good blueray discs out yet (a lot of SE DVD's actually have more extra's then thier blueray counterpart ) but if you like to be on the bleeding edge of technology then PS3's are not a bad way to go, keeping a PC to actually game on of course

Well now PS3 is released in NA and some of us have had our hands on a unit I can safely say it is a decent console.
But it has its flaws. The unified gaming service for Xbox (live) is mature, cheap, easy to use and it just works. Wii is similarly well thought out but some of the services don't work yet (the connect stuff isnt online yet) PS3 online however is a bunch of ass.
The on paper specs has the PS3 winning, but that is numbers on paper, the real world performance has it pretty evenly matched with 360, especially as 360 has just entered it's second generation of games dev after a year on the shelves. Of the 5 games I own for mine they're either exactly the same as the 360 version (CoD3, NFS:Carbon being glaringly obvious) or simply do not match up to current gen 360 (GoW being a prime example). I just look forward to good software like MGS 4 on PS3.
On the upside the hardware is just as solidly built as all the others, the controller is familair and excellently designed, the bluray player is a little worse than my dedicated player, but that isn't suprising as my player was twice as much, so for the money the PS3 is very good value IF you want a bluray player.
In comparison to PC gaming, some games are just better on pc (you cannot beat keyboard, mouse and flightsticks) but other games such as Need for Speed Carbon and Splinter Cell Double agent are made better (much better) on the consoles, they clearly get more dev time and with having fixed hardware they can spend time polishing instead of doing compatibility tweaking for a thousand different setups.
To conclude I think the answer is simply subjective. With lots of software being truly great on console and stinking on pc and vice versa for the pc, games with complex controls need the flexibility and funcionality of a keyboard and mouse. The transition may come with later PS3 software as Sony have said their system will fully support a USB KB/Mouse and looking at the way the OS works on PS3 I can see this happening easily.
I'm a gaming addict, I buy far too many games, but ultimately I play games, not systems.

I have had a 360 since around May this year, and currently have only 1 game for it, GoW. There are others that I will purchase when they finally arrive such as Bioshock but for the time being there isn't much that makes me go ooo.
I think the same will be true of the PS3 for at least a year after launch. Until Devs get their heads around the technology, most games, like the 360 will be mediocre at best, with perhaps one title being relied on to sell the system. So my philosophy will be to wait a year, and look at what is available for it then and make my decision, the other bonus being that it will have taken a price drop by then too making it more value for money.

dude, you need to get a look at Test Drive Unlimited, it is fanbloody tastic, and in full 1080p resolution on me projector is out of this world.
Output via the SVGA connector on my hi def telly, i can go higher than standard 1920 X 1080 resolution also, so the effects are stunning too.
PS3 has a major problem, as it has no component output, meaning you are stuck with HDMI which after running several tests is in my opinion a pile of shite, i will explain........
With HDMI, you have digital rights management, meaning that whatever you put in at one end has to come out the same the other, fine for fullscreen apps like games, but when you get a 2.35:1 widescreen movie, you are stuck with the black bars, HDMI allows no resizing of image!
WIth the encrypted signals from HDMI you cannot record the images either, unlike component which carries no encryption.
also when comparing HDMI to component, in my opinion Component looks richer, it can also be run further than 6 metres without issue.
Anything further than this and you get serious picture degredation resulting in sparklies on screen.

Downloading demo now, adding you to friends list too. If it's good, I may even consider an Xbox Live Gold membership so I can join you chaps for a lap or two.
