Ok, just thought i'd give my basic stuff here for new guys to get a grip for battlefield games...
---------------
BASICS:
Movement and Observation:
This is relatively simple, but there are certain techniques for each game you play for this category.
First of all, learn how to move quickly and efficiently in bf2/bf2142, so you dont end up looking down at your keyboard thinking what button is what.
1. Try to have your three middle fingers on your left hand on the A, W and D keys. Dont worry about the S, simply move your middle finger back onto the S key to quickly move back if needed.
2. Your left middle finger should be used to go prone by pressing the Z button.
3. Your little finger (or pinkie), should be always available to press the control button, as crouching nowadays in battlefield is more effective than automatically trying to go prone, especially if you needed to move out the way to avoid being hit.
4. Your little finger should also be used for sprinting and try to have your little finger always over the shift button.
5. Your right middle finger should be used for getting in/out of vehicles, reloading and selecting your weapons on buttons 3, 4, 5, and maybe 6+ but its a bit of a stretch. Buttons 1 and 2 should be covered by using your middle finger.
6. Your right thumb (which should be hovering over the spacebar) doesnt have much play in movement, as it is mainly used for pressing the V and B keys which is important for communication.
Now that you should be set up for moving in battlefield (maybe after some practice if youre not used to it), its time to move onto moving around safely in a combat situation.
1. Try to observe the minimap first, so you know where objective points are and where the enemy is most likely to come from.
2. Open ground can be dangerous, so never pause and stand there in open ground, especially when someone is shooting at you. Try to sprint your way out of open ground to safe cover and dont turn to where you think they are shooting from while strafing at a slower speed, this makes you an easy target.
2b. Never try to run in a straight line in the above situation, as this can minimise your chances of being hit. Also, dont worry if you cant see where they are shooting from, if you have surround sound on you should be able to pick up their direction pretty easily.
3. Closed ground can get just as bad as open ground, or worse. Always try to have an escape route that you can take to get to safety, if you get trapped, you have an 85% chance of being killed - Its better to live and fight another day then to die trying. (even though you respawn but you lose battles if you cant get control of anywhere)
4. When moving around on the battlefield, try to spot potentially strong points that the enemy can get an advantage from, or that you can use depending on how far away it is and if its actually going to be useful. You'll mainly find these 'points' around flags or missile silos.
5. Always observe the sutiation on your computer screen. Try to look for the enemy moving in the distance or in buildings/strong points. An example could be if youre moving down a street, are there enemies or friendlies behind the obstacles in front of you? Can your position be flanked by either side of the street because your friendlies arent covering those routes? Are there snipers on high walkways or on top of buildings next to you?
5b. The threat of danger can come from almost anywhere on battlefield, so observing whats happening in your surroundings and whats on your screen is important, and could save your life on the battlefield. This technique may be hard at first, but with experience this becomes routine.

2. Your left middle finger should be used to go prone by pressing the Z button.
I use my thumb for that, much easier and faster!

And what hand controls the mouse?
I know Disturbed, and many of you good players
have 3 or more hands but i only have 2

ROFL
+=TP=+ SirJxter
not all hands are made out of wood. my hand is flexible

i cannot play the default layout, hence i have over many battlefield years re-keyed my board
, I use arrow u,d,l,r and shift, enter, ctrl, alt, del pg dn, pg up etc, but i am left handed woth my mouse, so the right side of the keyboard is more natural for me.
+=TP=+Deadly_Dave(admin)
same here use none of the default keys
+=TP=+Major Git
me neither - i randomaly scatter the keys around each map and take it from there - well that my reason for being pooey

LMAO!

i also forgot to say that i have a habbit of randomly scattering keysd and springs around my dining room when my keyboard meets with my kneecap on a regular basis, to the point where my local computer shop keep a supply of cheap, breakable keyboards just for me!
